One thing at a time
Leo Babauta of zen habits has tips on establishing morning and evening routines. He says, “Too many people try to do multiple habits at once, which nearly guarantees failure. You need to choose one for this month, and give it your complete focus.” I know this to be very true from my own experience. You may want to have many good things brought into your life, but if you try to do too many things at once, you invariably end up doing nothing. “One thing at a time”, that’s the mantra.
It’s not out of place to quote Swami Vivekananda here.
Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life — think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.
